Join us on August 24 for The Chattery's inaugural Adult Spelling Bee, a fundraiser to support our mission of providing fun, affordable, and accessible learning and art programs.

Gather your group, test your spelling skills, and enjoy an evening of camaraderie and competition. Whether you're a wordsmith or just looking for a good time, this event promises to be both challenging and entertaining. Grab a drink from The Chattery’s Buzzed “Bar” and support a good cause.

First place will receive a prize package including a trophy, Chattery gift cards and more!

More Information and Rules!

1. There will be three rounds.

• Round 1:  Each team will use paper to write the word out together and one team member will spell the word into the mic. Each team will have 60 seconds per word. Each team will spell two words. Each correct word will receive one point. 
• Round 2:  Each team will work together to spell a word and one team member will spell the word into the mic. No writing will be allowed. The team members will take turns spelling. Each team will have 45 seconds per word. Each team member will spell one word (teams will spell three words total). Each correct word will receive one point.
• Round 3:  Each team member will spell a word individually with no consultation with their team. No writing will be allowed. Each team member will have 30 seconds per word. Each team member will spell one word (teams will spell three words total). Each correct word will receive two points. 
• Final: The top two teams* will advance to the final round and pick their best speller. This round is a single error elimination round (unless the other person gets it wrong too and then we'll go again!). 

*In the case of a tie, there will be a tiebreaker before the Final round. 

2. Spectators will be able to purchase "enhancements" for the teams to help them! For Rounds 2 & 3, Spectators can purchase an extra 10 seconds or Double Stinger (the chance to try the word again if it's misspelled). For Round 3 only, Spectators can purchase an enhancement to pass the word to another team member. Once that happens, the time will start over. Teams cannot buy their own enhancements. Limited enhancements available for purchase.
