Join us at the Black Art Lounge to celebrate the beauty and creativity of Black art.
Our annual Black Art Lounge is our version of an art cafe where guests are given a menu and they can choose one or all activities to engage in and create art.
This year, our Black Art Lounge will focus heavily on local artists – paying homage to Chattanooga’s vibrant art scene. Attendees will be encouraged to create art based on each artist, plus learn more about their work and background.
Examples of art stations this year include:
✏️ Creative writing prompts guided by the work of local poet, Erika Roberts
✍️ Illustration exercises based on Josiah Golson’s artwork
📸 Collage making influenced by the photography of Woodson Carpenter
Abstract painting based on paintings of Dannita Noble
🗿 Art making inspired by a sculpture by Isaac Duncan III
We’ll also have beverages and light snacks to keep you refreshed as you create.
The Black Art Lounge is free and open to the public to introduce (or reintroduce) guests to artists they may or may not be familiar with.
